GENUS SYMPHIYSODON (Discus or Pompadour Fish)This genus contains strongly compressed, disc-shaped Cichlids of a magnificence and beauty unparalleled by any other aquarium fish.Unfortunately, so far they have proved difficult to keep and breed.However, a detailed and accurate analysis of their needs and care should assist those interested in this genus. Two species, one of which is subdivided into three subspecies, are recognized.
